India and Bangladesh will renew their long-standing rivalry when they meet for a three-match T20 series beginning Sunday, beginning with game one at Shri Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior and moving onto Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on October 9 and Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad for game three of this series.
India have taken a commanding lead against Bangladesh in T20 internationals so far, winning 16 out of 17 meetings between them in T20 format. Bangladesh were victorious only once back in 2019 for an inaugural T20 encounter against India; even then India prevailed by just seven runs in the final over.
This series will mark Bangladesh’s debut hosting India in a bilateral Twenty20 series and is sure to be highly-anticipated. India currently rank number one while Bangladesh are ninth on the global T20 rankings.
Surya Kumar Yadav will lead an inexperienced Indian T20 side against an equally talented Bangladesh team led by Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed – with all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz expected to return after nearly 14 months away from international cricket.

India and Bangladesh enjoy an intense rivalry in world cricket, strengthened by Bangladesh’s remarkable rise over two decades. Beginning as mostly domestic-only competitors, Bangladesh have transformed themselves into one of the strongest emerging challengers globally thanks to events such as 2007 ICC World Cup when they pulled off one of its greatest upsets against India.
Bangladesh’s star players began to emerge, such as Shakib becoming the world’s leading all-rounder; Mashrafe and Tamim earning reputations as powerful batsmen who would eventually apply that dominance in Test matches as well.
